Dear Sister:
Aunt Lizzie just stepped on a grape skin (got her shoes off) Papa bought some dead ripe grapes they are so awful juicy doesn't that make your mouth water? Lloyd said he was cold so he got a heavy coat and his winter cap on, just think. I have not seen a paper that has come this week. Lloyd is supposed to be writing a letter but he is dancing a [jig]. School is getting along fine so far. Mr. Huff is strict but he has not any set [rules]. Mr. Huff is a tall man (about 6 feet) But in good proportion. All he teaches is mathematics but is a very good teacher. I do not like Miss Thomas (as a teacher) in history altho she may be all right in other subjects. I think Latin is easy so far I ride to & from school every day altho I am a H.J.H.S. student. Mr. Huff has a very [determined] way about him. He also goes out and joins in the games with the boy. When ever he says he will do a thing he does it and that is what Mr. Willis did not do. We are allowed to go out doors & eat when the weather is fit & we weren't last year. I think this year will be a 100% better this year than it was last year. I think all my studies are hard but I will do some hard studying. Well every body is in bed except Papa Lloyd & me and I soon will be.

Monday morning and afternoon. Oh! I am crazy with the heat it is [...]. Aunt Lizzie said she was going away next Tuesday. Now isn't that awful when papa bought the grapes he also bought some very nice apples. We have had fried chicken now isn't that grand. I cleaned the front room all spic & span this forenoon & mamma is canning tomatoes this after noon. We had and have a few & small mushmellons from the patch. Well I will have to write to Clark so that I won't be [partial].
I forgot to say that Daniel H. or "Gander" does not go to this high school but goes to the Blufton H.S. There are about four boys that have either dropt out or gone to some other H.S. There is Daniel, Goranan, Dail, Neusbaum, & Joseph North. Warren sayes he likes his teacher fine and I guess she is a fine teacher (Nola Shoup).
